Is it Anxiety or Intuition?

Is it Anxiety or Intuition?

Is it Anxiety or Intuition?

It’s one of the biggest questions I get.

When we are outside of these two things, it feels really easy to define the two as if they are black and white.

Anxiety is fear.

Intuition is knowing.

But then when you're faced with a real life situation, the black and white mix together and you find yourself in this relentless, confusing gray area.

So how can you tell the ᴅɪꜰꜰᴇʀᴇɴᴄᴇ??

By closing your eyes and feeling it in your body.

Resistance, fear and anxiety are all in your head.

No, not "in your head" like you're making it up. But Literally in your head. This energy sits in your third eye. You are going to feel like you're floating, you might see flickering behind your eyelids, like you can't think straight, like there's a circus in your mind and you are overanalyzing.

If you're experiencing this energy, it's resistance, fear or anxiety.

Intuition? It sits in your chest and belly.

Your heart and solar plexus. It's a knowing. You know when we say things like, "If it's wrong, I don't want to be right!" Or, "I know this doesn't make any sense, but we have to do this." It's being guided by a knowing. It's a calm, a certainty, a surrender. It's like a weighted blanket of comfort.

So why does it get confusing? Because both can exist at the same time. When I resigned from my counseling position, it was a knowing, I just knew. BUT the fear that surrounded this was big. Because it was counterintuitive to leave a career I was only in for a year and a half but was "supposed" to be in until retirement.

When I was overbooking my photography calendar, I'd get this knowing "this is too much." But I'd hear in my mind, "It's good money, you'll be fine, you have room." Guess what? My intuition was right but I chose logic and was guided by my fear.

It's a muscle to be able to read these two things easily and it's not only through experience, but taking the time to evaluate your experience and learn from it. It gets easier and easier I promise.

Oh, and I have an entire section on this exact topic in my book, Motherhood Stripped. Did you get your copy yet?
