15 Ways to Manage Anxiety
Anxiety is a very personal experience. The cause of anxiety is from the brain layered with so many things from hormonal levels, personal experiences/traumas and so much more.
These 15 tools are ones that have really supported me through my journey. Anxiety is never gone… our brain is designed to keep us safe with anxiety, so we need it. But sometimes the brain is overzealous and likes to take things a little too far. That’s okay, we can fix that with some patience, consistency and positivity.
Diet. We need to eat a balanced diet and drink good water. Vitamins and minerals are what make our body work. So many of us women are imbalance in our hormones and it’s directly connected to how our brain is responding. My favorite go to people for female wellness are Jenn Pike and Zesty Ginger.
Seed Cycling. Awesome and easy way to balance hormones. Read more here.
Move. BUT move for YOUR body. Women should not be working out hard every day of the week. Our body is on a 28 day cycle. Some weeks HIIT is going to be awesome, other days a walk, other days some yoga. Listen to your body, do what feels good and move it. Those of us in adrenal fatigue… we may be walking every day for a while until we fix some things. To fix “some things” look into Jenn Pike or Zesty Ginger in number one.
Meditate. The researched response to meditation blows my mind. It is SO good for you. Don’t underestimate the power of meditation. My favorite apps are Insight Timer and Calm.
Birth Control. Not saying whether to do it or not to do it. But research, talk to health care professionals, become an advocate of your body and be empowered in your health decisions. Understand, completely, of the effects of ANYTHING you put into your body so that you can support yourself. For me, eliminating this was huge in my journey. But your journey is yours and mine is mine.
Sleep. We all know this one. It should actually be number one.
Lower Caffeine. I know, I love it, too. But play with this one here. See if it feels good to have less. For me, it’s a huge anxiety trigger.
Therapy. Need I say more? It’s not wasted. Find someone you connect well with. It was hugely important for me in my anxiety journey. And I’m a certified counselor. Even therapists need therapists.
Challenge Limiting Beliefs. Any time you have a belief, ask yourself “Is this really true?” Challenge your thinking, choose a more positive belief in place. Your thoughts create your actions.
Essential Oils. They really support my emotional wellness. They support my immune system. They helped us remove toxins in our home which results in a happier endocrine system which (with a lot of connections in between) helps manage anxiety. It’s amazing how it’s all connected. I’m a lover of Young Living. You can become a member here.
Crystals. It’s science. Crystals vibrate at certain frequencies and so do we. Want to change your low frequency? Hold a crystal. There’s so much more to know here, I know. Want a blog post on this? Let me know so I know the interest is there and I will! Energy Muse is my favorite online store.
Magnesium. Now, don’t take supplements without talking to your physician or practitioner. Seriously! We all have different bodies and there’s so much more connected to our magnesium levels. BUT this really helped me. A great brand to try is CALM
Epsom Salt Baths. Get the epsom salt, maybe with lavender, fill the tub and soak. Enjoy!
Creating an Action Plan. Know your triggers. Have a list (like this one) and have it available to go to when you’ve been triggered. Know your trigger? Be proactive. My trigger was fear of getting sick before a wedding. Before weddings, I’d be sure we all were taking vitamins, getting enough rest, meditating extra, using oils extra and also made sure my second shooter was capable of shooting the whole wedding… just in case. I created my safety net. It’s about eliminating the fears and the what ifs.
Emotional Freedom Technique. It’s AMAZING. It’s a technique where you tap while talking about your anxieties. It focuses on removing blocks, shifting energy and rewiring your neurotransmitters. Learn more about it here and start doing it!
Do you have any other tools you love? Let me know! Are there any on this list that you’ve never heard of and hope to try? I’d love to know that, too!
