Week 9 | This Week’s Love Notes

This week’s energy was different for me. I’m grateful for what I know about how to move through different energy because it’s a week that I could have very quickly found myself in a state of burnout. I haven’t pushed or forced anything and really moved through each task with what felt good for me. It wasn’t about procrastinating, avoiding or resisting anything. It was about giving myself the permission to do things on my to do list at different times of the day, different moments, different amounts of time and just with different feelings. And because of that, I still accomplished everything, but simply FELT different in doing it all.

Understanding our energy, the cycles and having the awareness in how we’re doing this thing called life is crucial to be able to experience it with presence and joy.

Learn more about all of this in my group, Same Boat Huddle, my Podcast or take an even bigger step in committing to changing your life by taking my course, Create Your Best Life.

55/366. Sometimes trying something new isn’t about being perfect or nailing it the first time, or even liking what you tried, but it’s about stepping outside of what’s comfortable. Have you ever thought of wearing something different, cooking with ingredients you’re unfamiliar with, exploring a part of your town you don’t know, reading a book in a genre you never read? We are constantly living inside comfort and while we need our routine and our comforts, the only way we grow is to really step outside of our normal (seriously, our brains stop growing when we stop learning, it’s why it’s recommended to learn something new when we retire)

56/366. You’re either funny or your not. You can learn some good jokes, but those who are quick witted and have a true sense of humor, it’s not something you can learn. And this kid has it. For a five year old, he surprises me with quickly he can th…

56/366. You’re either funny or your not. You can learn some good jokes, but those who are quick witted and have a true sense of humor, it’s not something you can learn. And this kid has it. For a five year old, he surprises me with quickly he can think of a one liner that’s within context and seriously funny. And I can also always count on him to be silly. I hope he never loses this.

57/366. He has serious attachment issues. He’s just always there. Always looking. Always watching.

58/366. I’m about ready for the warm days and the lush leaves and shade. But for now, I’m also embracing those last days of winter. The quiet ones. The ones where while we are all craving to bloom a little early (and some daffodils are, too!) the trees are holding strong in their hibernation as they prepare for their next season in life.

59/366. A bitter cold evening with gusty winds. The kind of cold where just a few minutes outside leaves your face numb. He begged and begged to go shoot hoops, so we all made our way to the court at the park behind our house. It would have been so easy to talk him out of it, but I’m glad we let him talk us into it.

61/366. This cat. Lately he’s been extra happy. How do I know? Let’s just say there are certain things he does when he’s stressed, anxious or mad. Cats are cats. I stop to see him a lot and it’s made me realize how often I haven’t over the past 5 years or so. He was just there, in his loyalty, despite my lack of presence. His energy has completely shifted in the past year or so, and it’s my gauge. It’s my gauge to know how my own energy is, and according to him, it’s pretty damn good.
