Week 4 | This Week’s Love Notes

And just like that we are entering into the final week of January. Doesn’t it seem wild that Christmas was only a month ago? I don’t know about you all, but if you told me it was 3 months ago I wouldn’t even flinch. We’ve been through a lot of illness, I (as always) have done a lot of reflection, self-care, reading, creating, being still, pushing forward…. it’s truly amazing what can happen in a few weeks time.

It’s not always time to push, it’s not always time to rest, and the more I learn about myself, the easier it becomes to tap into my own intuition to know what’s next.

Cheers to the final week in January and moving right on into month number two of 2020!

20/365: You know what I hate? That so many women look at their body to find the flaws or what could be better.

Here's what I choose to see.

A tan line from an amazing trip to Mexico. A lower back that still bears the pain of carrying two babies (1 at a time). Shoulders and delts, that with no matter how much time passes, never seem to forget how many laps they swam, scars removing impurities and precancerous growths, muscles that have been resting as earned more than pushed to be perfect. I see strength with softness. I see curves and hard lines. I see perfection with imperfection. I see beauty. It's pretty amazing how it feels to truly respect and love yourself just as you are.

21/365: She’s mighty, stubborn and determined. She’s reserved, feminine and delicate. She’s the one who, from day one, has taught me what it is to live in alignment as a woman in this world.

22/365: This view chokes me up almost every single time. These little children of mine climb out of the car and head off confidently, never looking back, for a full 7 hours of their day. He’s not in school five days a week yet, but holy cow is this one of the hardest milestones so far as a mother. I literally can’t even tolerate what the college drop off will be like. Nope, can’t go there yet.

23/365: This little guy of mine. We’ve gotten into this funny routine where, after we drop his sister off, we get home and just sit. We just sit in the car and quietly be. We are both so empathic with minds constantly moving and thinking, and it see…

23/365: This little guy of mine. We’ve gotten into this funny routine where, after we drop his sister off, we get home and just sit. We just sit in the car and quietly be. We are both so empathic with minds constantly moving and thinking, and it seems that when we sit here, it’s just a break. We aren’t coming or going, we’re just there. It’s a reprieve we both need and I love how we both so instinctively allow ourselves to take it.

24/365: He patiently waits for his next meal shortly after he was fed the previous. He loves his food.

25/365: She asked for a Barbie House for Christmas 3 years ago. Santa didn’t come through. She asked for it again the following Christmas and Santa still didn’t follow through. After another year of asking for this Barbie House, Santa realized how much she actually wanted it and finally followed through. I have to say, while we weren’t thrilled to have this huge tower of pink plastic in our house, I adore watching her imagination soar with all of the play she comes up with. Thank goodness Santa got his act together.

26/365: This boy. he knows when he needs a break. He knows how to calm himself, as uncomfortable as it as an adult to watch your kid feel such big feelings, he’s doing a pretty stellar job. So while it’s natural to want to fix things, sometimes it’s…

So while it’s natural to want to fix things, sometimes it’s better to just let them move through it. In the end, it’ll be better for them anyway.
